How do you remove the drawers from a standard filing cabinet?

I know they do come out, beccause it arrived with the shell and drawers separately! I need to move the filing cabinet downstairs, and it is far too heavy with the drawers in. It is just a standard filing cabinet, the drawers come out on runners when you pull the handle on the front – but I can’t work out how to get them off/out of the runners. (No, it doesn’t work just pulling them out to their full extent, they seem to be somehow fixed into the runners!) Thanks!
Normally you either open them and lift the front of the drawer up and then slide it out or there may be little latches in each of the runners (usually plastic) that you need to disengage before removing the drawer.
