How to remove paint from a metal filing cabinet?

When I was younger I had a beige metal filing cabinet in my room and I painted a giant purple flower on it. My mom was cleaning out my old room and wants me to have it. It’s a good filing cabinet, but the giant purple flower is kinda ugly now. How can I remove it? It’s just acrylic arts and crafts paint.
Would simple paint remover work? Should I just paint over it?

ou might be better off simply painting over it. If you apply paint remover, you will also remove the original paint on the cabinet.
